Kimberly Buchanan, CNWI

Certified Nose Work Instructor (CNWI)

All Good Dogs scent kits and supplies are designed and carefully crafted by Kimberly Buchanan. She fulfills many roles within the products division as an integral part of design and development, production, purchasing, inventory control and a bit of accounting to round it out. Many products are still made and packaged by hand when Kim isn’t teaching K9NW, traveling as a host, Certifying Official or Judge for NACSW events or activities.

A founding member of NACSW and one of the “Core 7” founding Certified Nose Work Instructors, Kim has been training since 2007 and competing in K9 Nose Work® since its inception. She and her Belgian Tervuren Oscar were one of the first few teams to title to an NW1 and NW2. She and her Terv Emmy were the first to have qualified for the challenging NW3 title and the very first team to ever earn the NW3 Elite title (= NW3 x 3). Emmy achieved her ELT2 title before she passed in 2018. Kim’s Tervuren Zen is nearing his ELT Championship title, Story is working towards her NW3 Elite and her youngest dogs, Cartoon & Tricks both preparing for NW2.

Kim and her dogs have also trained and competed in Herding, Tracking, Obedience, Schutzhund, French Ring, Dock Diving, and Agility. They have competed nationally as part of the Purina Incredible Dog Challenge, AKC and USDAA Agility and internationally in the 2011 & 2012 FMBB World Championships of Belgian Shepherds in Belgium & Italy. Story and Cartoon are training and competing in the sport of French Ring and Story also competes in Agility.

Kim teaches K9 Nose Work® classes and hosts other K9NW activities in Southern California through her company, Joyride K9 Dog Training. She is enthusiastically helping to bring the sport of K9NW to other regions of the US as part of the faculty with the National Association of Canine Scent Work, LLC®, K9 Nose Work camps and webinars in collaboration with Dogs Of Course and through her online education offerings at JoyrideK9.education.
